1. How did you end up in Palm Springs?
I was born in Los Angeles and lived there until I was 10 years old. My mom, who is a teacher, came out to Palm Springs to work. Moving out here wasn’t bad because I had a friend from L.A. that moved out here first and you really don’t notice the weather too much when you are little.
2. What inspired you to want to write a book?
I love to write and read and I think they kind of go hand in hand. I’ve always wanted to write a book, it was just getting around to doing it. I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in English.
3. What were some of the challenges you faced writing your first novel?
I think because it was my first book, the biggest challenge was finishing it. It just seemed like so much at first, all of the writing. Balancing work and writing was hard at times. I tried to write something each day, even if I changed it the next day.
4. Who are some of your inspirations?
I like Janet Evanovich, Charlene Harris and Karen Slaughter. I love the author Dick Francis. I’ve probably read all of his books 5 times each. It’s hard to name just a few because there are so many great books and great writers.
5. What are you working on?
I’m working simultaneously on a second volume to my first book along with a mystery novel with different characters. Writing a second book is a little easier because I have a better sense of my characters and who they are. Overall the second book is coming along much quicker.
